In mid-2024, I started work as an Inspector for an important Canadian Federal Government department. My work involves applying and enforcing legislation on federally regulated entities. I manage a case load, provide compliance guidance to regulated entities, and assist my team with technical knowledge. Note: As this is my current workplace, I have withheld specific information for privacy reasons.
In 2024, I managed a large recruitment project involving over a thousand stakeholders, which resulted in nearly 300 ready-to-hire qualified candidates. I taught 2 junior admins how to manage a recruitment project while simultaneously acting as tech support and an extra resource for other projects. I created custom programs using VBA in Excel to automatically set up processes with the click of a button. I also used the PowerSuite extensively to automate, process, and display data as needed.
To improve project efficiency, I compiled scripts in
Microsoft Excel® VBA and Windows PowerShell, resulting in a ~80% increase in efficiency.
I managed hundreds of files, communicated with project stakeholders, created reference emails, and
prepared
project
updates. Additionally, I created end-of-project reports for my projects. I assessed applicant data and scores for several staffing projects,
and interviewed hundreds of candidates.
From May 2022 to October 2022, I acted in a higher level role as a Project Services Advisor. I
provided advice, guidance and professional assistance to team leaders, managers, and project
officers.Throughout my time in this role, I demonstrated service excellence to my entire team.
During my time in this
position, I developed a set of MS365 Excel templates to track applicant scores and process metrics,
and
created user-friendly modules and guides. I compiled and analyzed data from process spreadsheets,
created a functionally complex MS Excel workbook for our Staffing Concierge
service, and expedited the security clearance process with MS forms.
I was also responsible for attending
cyclical meetings, providing resources and information to managers, and enhancing the work plan
document for
the leadership team. Due to my technology related skills, I often performed minor tech support
services for my colleagues.
I started my role as a Project Services Advisor within the Regional Recruitment leadership Team at
Employment
& Social Development Canada.

Working with my project team, I managed communication with candidates,
recorded project data, and documented timelines. I trained new project administrators while also
providing project management advice and best practices to colleagues, Team Leaders, and
Management. I was responsible for leading project administration deliverables
such as scheduling changes, board report documentation, and the completion
of project master spreadsheets.
I kept myself organized with detailed to-do lists,
an updated calendar, and an organized inbox. I used different applications and software to automate
and
simplify work wherever possible.
I started as a Project Services Officer within the Regional Recruitment Team at
Employment
& Social Development Canada.
I consulted pertinent legislation, policy, procedures, and correspondence to ensure that case files
were
completed correctly. With constantly changing processes and procedures, I maintained a balance of
shifting
priorities while investigating EI ERB claim legitimacy and eligibility with diligent attention to
detail.
While validating case criteria
accurately, I conducted identity verification interviews with claimants and completed Reports of
Investigation
with recommendations following the processing of case files. Each case required a final Report of
Investigation that detailed all facts and information. I worked with Managers, Team Leaders,
Business
Expertise Advisers, Investigators and clients to process case reports properly and according to
documentation
standards.
I joined Employment & Social Development Canada as an Integrity Services Investigator.
As an HR Assistant, I administered staffing projects, managed a portfolio of sites, and carried out
operational
HR tasks. I maintained a data entry accuracy rate of 96%, which was generally considered difficult to achieve due to integration
with the
Phoenix Pay System being uncertain. I managed 6 site portfolios across Western Canada during a
significant
change in CSC's history, Bill C-83 (Abolishment of solitary confinement).
I administered selection process projects, which included creating job
advertisements, processing and creating pools of qualified applicants, and on-boarding new
employees. I also
processed over 300 staffing files, managed up to 65 files at one time, trained new staff, drafted
employment
contracts and staffing notifications, and sent Pay Action Requests to ensure correct employee
pay.
I joined the Federal Government of Canada, starting as a Human Resources Staffing Assistant
Generalist at
Correctional Services Canada.
I was responsible for the day to day functioning of the Member Services Desk and surrounding areas.
I
implemented and managed a new HR application, while assisting the Operations Manager and other
Senior
Managers. I supervised, trained, and monitored the Member Services staff. I drafted various
policies,
including a Board approved Disability & Accommodation Policy.
To aid the Member Services Desk, I created
several procedure and process guides. I also tracked Key Performance Indicators and administered
various
programs for student use. I provided assistance and advice to elected members of the student
executive, while helping with their various initiatives. I addressed and handled all
inquiries and complaints.
I joined URSU as the Administrative Coordinator.
In June 2016, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Management from the University of British
Columbia.
I taught laboratory assignments on Microsoft Access®, Microsoft Project®, and service blueprints for group projects. Along with teaching, I communicated with students via various channels, conducted research on learning topics, and communicated with other TA's to ensure uniformity in grading and teaching. I also watched and provided feedback on final project presentations by students, which was considered by the Professor when assigning grades.
